I. Food Share Program (FSP)

The Food Share Program is a platform for easy flow down of resources and activities addressing primarily hunger, loss of jobs, learning difficulties/ education and climate change. It was conceptualized by KnK as a collaborative work from the private sector with full support from government agencies and LGUs and is meant to address issues brought about by Pandemic. The selected family beneficiaries pledge to work and become the nucleus for community transformation.

Pilot was 50 barangays in Metro Manila. Sharing the video done by a team from LGU, DSWD and KnK focal. Since its success, sites enlarged to CALABARZON and MIMAROPA. Running now about 100 sites with a growing number of pledges. Samples of activities are shared with you. (Please refer to annex A)

We are now expanding to more areas in other regions. Groundwork is being done in Region 5 and Region 6. Accepting and assessing many requests from other provinces.

II. Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP)

SFP may either be community base in partnership with a sponsor, DSWD and LGU or school base in partnership with a sponsor, DepEd and target public elementary school. 30 malnourished children are assessed and become beneficiaries with parents given social prep, do the work counterpart and receive civic values formation. Hot meal is taken from a 28-cycle menu commissioned by KnK to be inexpensive but nutritious and designed by DSWD-NCR Head Nutritionist/ Dietician in consultation with FNRI.

SF runs for 120 days or 6 months. Baseline data, monitoring and terminal result are the required documentation of the program. Budget is provided by a sponsoring partner with KnK in overall management and coordination. SFP is now institutionalized by the national government with a substantial budget allocation. The areas not covered are targeted by Kabisig for implementation, privately funded and upon request.

III. Complementary Nutrition Program (CNP)

CNP started as a Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) for Malnourished Children, hot meal with milk, implemented following a very structured program of 6 months with baseline data, monitoring, and collated yearly result done by partners DSWD and LGU for community base and the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office, public elementary schools for school based. Yearly collated data showed successful results.

  • 98%-100% substantial weight gain

  • 80%- 95% rehabilitated to normal nutritional status

  • Less than 1% drop out, mostly for residence transfer

When SFP was institutionalized by the government, KnK switched to CNP with milk donation strictly following Milk Code and all government regulations. KnK implements this program nationwide, in both communities and public elementary schools, helping about a million beneficiaries and their families. CNP is still active and growing.
